MRJR Self-Guided Pilgrimage

Seattle's Central District

All ages are invited to this 90 minute, 2 mile pilgrimage in the Central District to connect with the story of redlining: a practice that still affects the racial and social dynamics of our city and country. The digital, self-guided resource includes a map, 12 stopping points, narration as you walk, and images and links to find out more as you experience first-hand the impacts of redlining in our city. You pick the time and date that works best for you.

This pilgrimage, hosted by the Ministry of Racial Justice and Reconciliation, is an experience that expands our understanding of our neighborhoods through the story and perspective of indigenous and marginalized communities. We want to see God’s work of justice and reconciliation right where we are. Each pilgrimage includes personal preparation prompts before the trip and reflection prompts afterward as a way of setting intention around the experience.

Adults and children (age dependent on the trip) are welcome! Pilgrimages in parks and neighborhoods include using paved and unpaved paths, up to 3 miles depending on the location.
